Shelf Static Analysis
Shelving systems are used for storage purposes in most sectors today. The carrying capacity of the shelf should be known according to the loads to be made while creating the shelf systems. These loads are called declerated loads and the profile sections to be used in rack manufacturing should be determined accordingly. What is Shelf Static Analysis?
The calculation of the carrying capacity of the sections of the elements that make up the rack system by determining the forces and moments acting on the load-bearing elements and connection points of the rack systems under declarated loads is called rack static analysis. The report created by combining these calculations is called the rack static report. How to Calculate Shelf Static?
With the developing world, the place of occupational safety in our lives has gained importance. During the inspections and by the occupational safety experts, the carrying capacity of the shelves has started to be requested in order to prevent possible accidents. The path to be followed in the shelf static calculation varies depending on whether there are shelves or not.
While projecting is done on the shelves that have not been manufactured, the project is made according to the declared loads of the products to be stored on the shelves. The sections of the profiles are selected according to the profile bearing capacities under these rated loads. If the capacities of the profiles are low, the sections are reduced. If the capacity is insufficient, the section is enlarged and profile selection continues. When the optimum profiles are reached, the shelf project is drawn. Shelf systems are fixed to the ground by means of anchors. A frame is formed by means of struts, arms and support elements.
If the shelves are already in use, an on-site survey must first be taken for each shelf. While taking the survey, the section details for each profile, namely the profile type, profile dimensions, material type and wall thickness, are of great importance. Visual inspection should be ensured during the surveying processes, it should be observed whether there is any damage on the profiles and junction points, and it should be stated in the report. After the surveying process is completed, each shelf is modeled in 3D with package programs and its capacities are checked for all profiles. If there is too much oscillation in the profiles, it may be necessary to add a support. Profile change or profile addition can be made in sections that do not recover.
